We also didn'...While we were riding, not at all. We also didn't actually get to interact with many people, as our ride together was so short! I think I've been spared a LOT this kind of BS simply by riding mostly alone. The few times I had ridden with other guys they've been on big bikes too, which gave us the benefit of odd duck pairing – especially when it became clear we weren't even in an intimate relationship, just friends on a ride. It was then that I was afforded some degree of autonomy (eyeroll here), but by that point the whole party was too absurd for the average person to put neatly in a box anyway. Even with Tim on his GTS in the Outer Banks, most people simply had NO clue what to make of us, and issues down south tend to be 50/50 chance of racism/sexism, ha!

I'm just going to believe that I'm simply too intimidating for a commoner to strike up conversation, while Fred is the friendlier, approachable one. I mean, a whole group of firemen only struck up conversation with him once I went to the restroom. That's gotta be it.Quezziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07335260844424157955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452024698082537423.post-89912842483597414612017-03-22T00:32:26.803-07:002017-03-22T00:32:26.803-07:00Tell him to what..?

It's just the reality of the world. I know I can't fight ALL the battles, but if I can expand one person's perspective simply by NOT being silent... that's worth it.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and for continuing to read along!Quezziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07335260844424157955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452024698082537423.post-88748366944695113722017-03-18T12:07:02.114-07:002017-03-18T12:07:02.114-07:00Funny, it wasn't that long ago when a man coul...Funny, it wasn't that long ago when a man could be in trouble for paying attention to another man's (pardon the possessive) wife. In my mind I was definitely the accessory on that ride.

After many years of marriage, my wife Susan and I have kind of staked out our respective ground and for the most part we manage to stay out of each other's people space. It might be easier because Susan is much more of a people person than I am.

Anyway, great post. I am married to a feminist and I am keenly aware of how women (and told often) are treated differently. I remember once my wife and I were going to look for a new TV and the sales guy was talking only to me not her....needless to say...he did not sell a TV that day and boy did I hear about it for the rest of the day. She even ended up calling the sales manager and giving him an ass chewing. I guess it is one more hurdle that women have to overcome. Just remember a saying my wife has "consider the source". Many of us out here reading your posts and who have followed you for the last 2+ years know that you outshine most every rider out there male or female. So keep that in mind the next time happens that we have your back and know exactly who you are and don’t let it get you down as other try to throw shade over your accomplishments whether on purpose or not. Good post and safe journeys. Matt Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12335505335803878219noreply@blogger.com
